Ian & Fiona Waller produce the wonderful boxes of Herdwick Hogget that have proved a real hit with Ten Mile customers over this Spring.
They have been very kind to offer us an opportunity to spend a couple of hours on their land learning about day to day farm life & how the sheep play an integral role in the management of the land. You will see how the sheep enjoy grazing on the species rich chalk grasslands and how the care they receive from Ian & Fiona makes for very happy and successful animals (oh, and you'll also get to see this years lambs who are still bouncing around the fields...!)
One of the reasons we set up Ten Mile Menu was to help our customers connect with their local producers and vice-versa, this is a great opportunity for you to see what is often hidden and understand much of the supply chain involved in delivering high quality produce to your table.
Ian was named the Farmers Weekly 'Countryside Farmer of the Year' in 2008 and is passionate about best-practice when it comes to improving the environment & developing the farm ecosystem. You can read more about Ian, Fiona and their Herdwicks via their Ten Mile producer profile, and see more snaps of the sheep by liking their facebook page here.
